I don't know if you all have been following the Bush earpiece conspiracy theory, but White House Chief of Staff Andy Card went on the record to deny knowledge of a wired Bush.
Bush chief of staff Andy Card says if Bush was wired, he "didn't know about it"
The actual quote clarifies that by "he," the writer meant Andy Card, but it was hilarious to think for a minute that the President might have been unknowingly fitted with a direct link to Karl Rove or the Republican mystery voice of the day. It might explain the whole "chosen by God" thing.
"Holy shit, fellas! That was you talkin to me? And here I thought it was the Almighty...."
The whole story is one of the more believeable conspiracy theories out there (seems to have at least as much merit as the 60 Minutes story on Bush's National Guard service anyway). Rumor has it that for some time now the administration has used a tiny ear prompter device (similar to the ones that televsion news anchors use) to receive his speech lines remotely. Still shots of the President's back at the first debate look like he might be wearing a receiver for the device under his suit coat.
