Blog Recommendation

Venturing beyond the reputable blogs to the outer reaches of the sphere can be a fruitless and overwhelming experience. (Who are all these geeks and what are they talking about? Is Stop the Monkey this inane? Am I a geek?)

So I wanted to give a personal recommendation for one site off the (i.e., "my") beaten path.

Mark Schmitt, currently the Director of Policy and Research at George Soros’s Open Society Institute in New York (my former employer), has started a blog called The Decembrist.

Mark's a brilliant guy who worked as a speech writer and policy adviser to Bill Bradley, then went on to head OSI's campaign finance reform work. The site is what I'd expect -- sophisticated analysis lucidly written.

Definitely worth a read.
