Sunset in Neoconia

I imagine it went down like this:

Wolfowitz walks into the Oval Office, wipes spit through his hair, and asks for a fleet of Bradley Fighting Vehicles and a handful of Daisy Cutters. “Indonesia,” Mr. President. “I’d like to take out Indonesia.”

Bush, none too happy with the man who walked him into Iraq, suggests the Deputy Secretary of Defense spread democracy another way.

Cut to Wolfie in his office with a sheet of paper and a pencil:

“Dear New York Times,

I’m writing to let everyone know how concerned I am about Indonesia’s Muslim majority and sympathy to Al Qaeda. Plus, I think knocking off its increasingly repressive government would really spread a lot of democracy.

Unfortunately, my president has taken a pass. But if there are any governments or organized militias out there who want to learn more about what they can do to help, please feel free to contact me at (703) 428-0711 or visit me on the web at www.dod.mil/faq/comment.html.

Sincerely,

Paul Wolfowitz”
